– Women: Christian prisoner in dire health condition

Prisoner
of conscience Maryam Naghash Zargaran who is detained in the woman’s ward of
Evin Prison, is suffering from severe pain in ear and constant dizziness.
Prison
doctors have advised her not to turn her head for two weeks, and if the problem
is not resolved she has to undergo surgery. Yet the Prosecutor does not grant
Ms. Naghash Zargaran a medical leave to go to hospital.
This
Christian citizen has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment on the charge of
acting against national security through association and collaboration against
the state. Her charges have not been officially relayed to her, but she is
presently serving the four years in Evin's women's ward.
Ms.
Naghash Zargaran underwent a heart surgery nine years ago and she has to be
under permanent medical treatment. She also suffers from numbness in the legs
and hands and chronic pain in the back and joints.
She
has been diagnosed as also suffering from lumbar disc, arthritis and
osteoporosis and ordered to be hospitalized for five days to undergo urgent
physiotherapy.
Severe
anemia, diabetes and blood fat have been added to her pains while in prison,
without her being able to follow up any of her needed treatments.
