 Created: 19 May 2016

Prisoner of conscience Maryam Naghash Zargaran who is detained in the woman’s ward of Evin Prison, is suffering from severe pain in ear and constant dizziness.
Prison doctors have advised her not to turn her head for two weeks, and if the problem is not resolved she has to undergo surgery. Yet the Prosecutor does not grant Ms. Naghash Zargaran a medical leave to go to hospital.
This Christian citizen has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment on the charge of acting against national security through association and collaboration against the state. Her charges have not been officially relayed to her, but she is presently serving the four years in Evin's women's ward.
Ms. Naghash Zargaran underwent a heart surgery nine years ago and she has to be under permanent medical treatment. She also suffers from numbness in the legs and hands and chronic pain in the back and joints.
She has been diagnosed as also suffering from lumbar disc, arthritis and osteoporosis and ordered to be hospitalized for five days to undergo urgent physiotherapy.
Severe anemia, diabetes and blood fat have been added to her pains while in prison, without her being able to follow up any of her needed treatments.
