Iran: Protesters Stage Gathering and Block road by Burning Tires

NCRI - According to report from Yazd (central Iran), on Tuesday October 25, a group of people in Bafgh staged a gathering and blocked the Bafgh-Yazd main road for a few hours by burning tires in order to protest the inaction of the Iranian regime’s agents in the project of reconstruction and widening this road.
Bafgh Farda (Tomorrow's Bafgh) news site reported that regarding people protesting the hollow promises of the authorities about the semi-finished project of Bafgh road construction in the province of Yazd, a trailer driver, who has been driving on the Bafgh-Yazd main road for about 7 years, said: “They have been building this road for 8 years and there is not a single day that we do not witness a car overturning or killing somebody. Since the beginning of the year, so far 35 people have been killed and injured in the road; that is 5 people per month.”
“What are authorities doing? The contractor says there is no budget and the authorities are lying… The right way is that people continue to protest until the deputy Governor or the Governor himself come in person and answer people and tell them exactly when the project is going to finish. Why should every week a young man be killed on this road? Tell us where the budget for the construction of this road has gone and announce in writing the opening date…,” the driver added.
Reports indicates that the Governor of Yazd, fearing escalation of people’s gathering and protests, attended the scene and promised to address the people’s demand in a few day
