IAEA: Iran Risks Nuclear Deal by Not Adhering to Limits

NCRI - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) told Iran on Thursday that it was risking the nuclear deal with the West by yet again exceeding the limit placed on a sensitive material, heavy water, Reuters reported.
The Board of Governors meeting in Vienna also saw the U.S. and Iran clash over the issue in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). U.S. Ambassador to the IAEA, Laura Holgate, said, "We note with concern Iran's accumulation of heavy water in excess of the limit set forth in the JCPOA of 130 metric tonnes."
Iran argued that the excess is for sale. The U.S. Ambassador argued, “Iran must strictly adhere to all commitments and technical measures for their duration.”
Reuters noted that this clash comes in the wake of the election to the presidency of Donald Trump, a critic of the deal. If Iran does not adhere to the agreement, he might be even less likely to support the lifting of sanctions which is the quid pro quo in the deal for Iran for restricting its nuclear activities.
