 US targets airlines in latest Iran sanctions move
The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on several Iranian companies and a number of aircraft in a move targeting four Iranian airlines.
The companies targeted were linked to Mahan Air and Meraj Air, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement. It also said it was targeting a number of their aircraft, as well as aircraft from Caspian Airlines and Pouya Air.
• FBI: Iran to Launch New Cyber Attacks
The FBI is warning that Iranian hackers could conduct new cyber-attacks on American businesses and government networks in response to the Trump administration's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.
"The FBI assesses foreign cyber actors operating in the Islamic Republic of Iran could potentially use a range of computer network operations—from scanning networks for potential vulnerabilities to data deletion attacks—against U.S.-based networks in response to the U.S. government’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)," the FBI said in a cyber alert to U.S. businesses.
• The third day of truck drivers' strike across Iran
On Thursday, May 24th, the nationwide strike of truck and heavy vehicle drivers continued in different cities for the third day. The strike has already spread to 168 cities in 29 provinces of the country, and the queues of trucks that have rejected to load goods are getting longer continuously. This is despite the fact that intelligence agents have been deterring them from engaging in strikes since the very first day in various ways, including sending threatening SMS messages on the drivers’ mobile phones, and summoning some of them to the branches of Intelligence Ministry in their cities.
• More guidance patrols to crack down on women
New groups of guidance patrols will begin their crackdown on women in Ardebil, northwestern Iran.
The General Prosecutor of Ardebil announced that new vice patrols are going to begin their activities in Ardebil.

In an interview on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, with the state-run ISNA news agency, Seyed Nasser Atabati, stated, “In addition to the activities of the patrols of the Prosecutor’s Office, Talayedaran Patrols in charge of promoting virtue and forbidding from evil are going to guide and issue verbal warnings to women who are improperly veiled and to businessmen who break the laws in various arenas.
• Women employees stage protest at a university in Mashhad
Employees of Payam Noor University of Mashhad, northeastern Iran, including women employees, staged a protest at the university.
More than 90 women and men working at Payam Noor University of Mashhad walked out of their offices and held a gathering on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, to protest reduction of their wages and increasing the number of their working days by one day.
