Political prisoner Zeinab Jalalian sent a message out of prison, condemning the assassination of Kurdish political activist Iqbal Moradi.
Kuurdish political prisoner Zeinab Jalalian, presently held in Khoy Prison, northwestern Iran, addressed her open letter to Zaniar Moradi, Iqbal Moradi’s son who is on death-row. In part of her letter, she wrote:
I dedicate my wounds to you because they are the best things I have gained in life. Because each wound marks a step forward on the path of those who have given their lives for freedom and are remembered eternally by our motherland…
Wherever we step in this land, we see some sign from those slain in the path of Kurdistan’s freedom. In the mountains of Makou, we are reminded of my friend from childhood, Shirin Alam Hooli; in the high mountains of Horaman, we are reminded of my dear comrade, Farzad Kamangir; and in the hospitable Abidar, we are reminded of Farhad Vakili, the late father of Houram, Houraz and Hengameh.
Today, our selfless and combatant father has joined them. They sing in unison their glorious song in the ears of humanity…
Your father, Iqbal Moradi, was a caring man who helped everyone. His assassination was the assassination of a helping hand to humanity. With your steadfastness and selflessness, you are carrying the legacies of all these freedom fighters.
While condemning this assassination, I pledge from behind these prison bars, to continue my struggle to realize what they gave their lives for: freedom.
