While the regime’s Health Minister has expressed deep concerns regarding a “new wave of the illness” and “an increasing number of cases and deaths,” and described the fourth wave as a “major challenge” considering the country’s “capabilities and infrastructure,” regime President Hassan Rouhani and other officials continue with their hesitation, lies and deceptive measures in procuring the Covid-19 vaccine.
“Be it a domestic vaccine or purchasing vaccines from reliable companies that are 100 percent trustworthy, the government will most definitely take the necessary measures in this regard,” said Rouhani in a meeting of the heads of the regime’s three branches on Tuesday night. “The government has placed a request with COVAX to purchase the vaccine and has deposited the money. Millions of doses of the vaccines have been purchased through this route… We are also seeking to procure the vaccine from other sources,” he added.
“Aside from COVAX there are other vaccines available for us and the Health Ministry will procure them. Today the Central Bank announced in an official meeting that there is no issue in depositing the money and procuring the vaccine,” Rouhani said on Wednesday during a cabinet meeting.
“Our state has one pillar, being the people, and their pillar is the leader. The enemy is focused on him and whatever he says, be it regarding the vaccine or anything else, they will launch a brouhaha,” said Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) chief Hossein Salami on Wednesday, according to the IRGC-linked Fars news agency.
“We expect that you be careful that no vaccine produced by the U.S., UK, and France, and any other vaccine produced by unreliable centers don’t find their way into the country through third-countries,” said the regime’s Majlis (parliament) Health Commission in a letter to Rouhani on Wednesday. “If officials are forced to import the vaccine approved by COVAX, firstly the type, quantity, when and from what country this vaccine is imported from should be precisely specified and announced publicly. Secondly, the importers of this vaccine should first test their vaccines on themselves and their family members, and if it is confirmed to be without any risk, it should then be placed at the people’s disposal,” the letter reads according to the state-controlled IMNA news agency.
“There is a direct connection between air pollution, the rise in Covid-19 cases, those being hospitalized for coronavirus and the escalating death rate,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday. “In Tehran, we are facing a variety of air particles, each having their negative impact on the locals. Most certainly a shutdown for a few days can help the current circumstances. Public transportation in Tehran plays a significant role in the issue of air pollution and Covid-19, and there is a need to find supportive solutions. A budget needs to be allocated for this matter,” he added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
“We have yet to have a day without a crisis. Over 350 members of the Tajrish Hospital medical staff have contracted coronavirus to this day,” said the head of this hospital in Tehran on Wednesday, according to the state-controlled Salamat News website.
In Golestan province, northern Iran, “the cities of Bandare Gaz and Kordkuy have turned into red zones in the past three days. Other cities are orange and yellow zones. The number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 stands at 400. The number of new Covid-19 cases is on the rise in the city of Bandare Gaz and the surrounding villages,” according to a Wednesday report wired by the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
