While public anger escalates over the ban imposed on purchasing Covid-19 vaccines by regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani, a member of the mullahs’ Expediency Council, ridiculously described this decision as completely scientific. “There is no trust in these countries. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Americans send fake vaccines to get money from us and then make our people even more sick than before,” he said on Monday, according to the state controlled Asr-e Iran website.“Did you see how foreign media outlets covered Khamenei’s position regarding the vaccine and some inside Iran blew their horn, saying we should be thinking about the people and resolve this illness,” said the regime’s state police chief on Monday, according to the state-controlled Iran Press news agency.Delays in purchasing the coronavirus vaccine continues while one of the regime’s own deputy health ministers issued a stark warning on Thursday. “Covid-19 has not been controlled, has not been contained and has only been managed. That is all! Meaning controlling the number of cases according to the number of hospital beds, not surpassing the peak, not reaching a downward trend; there is no white zone anywhere,” he said, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
Hamid Emadi, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force, described jumping into reopening the economy as “neglect and normalization” that “can lead to a new wave of this illness. This is taking place while everyone is emphasizing that the illness’ conditions across the country has yet to become stable and under control. We are facing a very fragile situation,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force, described conditions in the Iranian capital as fragile. “We have witnessed a relative decrease in social distancing during the past three weeks, which is extremely dangerous. With social distancing protocols violated and an increasing number of Covid-19 fatalities, there is a continuing concern, and it may result in the illness flaring. Last week Tehran witnessed a ten to 15 percent increase in this illness, which can be related to air pollution,” he said on Thursday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
“In case of even the slightest neglection we will be returning to the harsh circumstances of November 2020… it is up to all officials and entities involved to take social distancing protocols very seriously and respect the restriction rules,” said the director of Tehran’s Beheshte Zahra Cemetery on Monday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
“266 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours,” according to the deans of Mazandaran and Babol Medical Sciences universities on Sunday. “Currently there are 1335 such patients hospitalized, of which 242 are under ventilators,” according to the IRGC-linked Javan daily.
“When the number of hospitalized patients begin to rise there will be large waves of this illness. It appears that the past two weeks these events have been shaping across [Kerman] province,” said the spokesperson of the Kerman Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
“The number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 have increased in the past two days. If we are engulfed once again, the next coronavirus wave will be far greater and our medical staff may not have the ability and energy to cope with such a development,” said the head of Ziaie Hospital in the city of Ardakan in central Iran on Monday.
