NCRI - Workers involved in the ‘Bam Old Citadel Restoration Project’ in Kerman province (Southern Iran) held a protest gathering in front of the ‘Arg Cultural Heritage Base’ on October 30, to protest against non-payment of their overdue salaries.
One the protesting workers said: “we are about 118 workers who have not been paid by Bam Cultural Heritage Base for the past three months. Despite holding several labor gatherings, none of the officials at the Cultural Heritage Base has so far done anything to handle the situation.”
Specifically, the workers say that they have been hired since 2003 by Arg Cultural Heritage Base to implement the cultural complex restoration project, while the last three months of their salaries is still unpaid by the employer.
The protesting workers say that due to a lack of liquidity, the Arg Cultural Heritage Base as the main administrator of the Bam Old Citadel Restoration Project, is not able to pay the workers’ salaries and other charges on time, as a result of which the workers are in a poor economic and mental condition.
