Iran Regime's Proxies in UAE Sentenced to Prison for Smuggling Military Equipment

NCRI - The State Security Department at UAE Federal Supreme Court sentenced on Wednesday April 26 two Iranian nationals to three years’ imprisonment, a 500,000-dirham fine, and deportation from the UAE for trying to smuggle military equipment from the country.
Also another Iranian dealer, abbreviated ‘S.M.A.R’, was sentenced to ten years in jail by Abu-Dhabi Federal Appeal Court. The dealer was convicted of trying to export a generator to Iran that was supposed to be used in its nuclear program, a move that is considered a violation of international sanctions against Iran.
According to the court ruling, the dealer will be deported from UAE at the end of his prison term, with his generator and its related devices confiscated.
Arabs are particularly concerned about Iranian regime’s ‘influence and intervention’ in their countries. Dozens have been tried and convicted in Arab countries over the past few years for their cooperating with the Iranian regime with the aim of creating unrest. Moreover, several Iranians, dual-citizens, as well as non-Iranians have also been brought to court in different countries for attempting to violate Iran sanctions. Among those tried is ‘Ahmad Sheikhzadeh’, adviser to Iranian regime’s delegation to the UN, who was tried in a Brooklyn court in March 2016 for violating the sanctions, money laundering, and tax-related issues.
