Quake shocks parts of Sistan-Baluchestan prov.
Tehran, May 30, IRNA – An earthquake measuring four on the Richter scale shook some parts of Sistan-Baluchestan province.
According to Geophysics Institute affiliated to University of Tehran, the quake occurred at 23:13 hours local time Tuesday (18:43 GMT) in an area located at 29.18 degrees latitude and 59.74 degrees longitude and at the depth of 10 km underground.
No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.
• Swiss bank BCP halts all new business with Iran
Swiss lender Banque de Commerce et de Placements (BCP) has suspended new transactions with Iran and is winding down Iran-related activities, the latest company to halt business after the United States said it would reimpose sanctions on Tehran.
BCP, founded in 1963, has been among the players active in Iran-related trade finance in commodities, finance sources say.
• Russia and Israel 'agree deal' to hold back Iranian militias so Assad can take border region
Russia and Israel have reportedly reached an unprecedented deal which would allow Bashar al-Assad’s forces to take remaining rebel territory in southern Syria - so long as Iranian fighters do not participate.
Moscow appears to have capitulated to Israeli demands to hold back Tehran-backed militias 15 miles from the occupied Golan Heights.
• US State Dept. report lists Iran as a main religious rights violator
May 29, 2018 - The U.S. State Department has issued its annual “International Religious Freedom Report” today, slating the Iranian regime amongst the main violators of religious rights.
In Iran, religious minorities such as the Sunnis, Christians, Jews, Sabean-Mandaeans, Zoroastrians and Yarsanis are quelled and see their rights violated.
This report refers to the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners, mostly members and supporters of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
• Formation of armed units to protect state organs in fear of popular uprisings
Along with the escalation of popular uprisings and nationwide strikes, Khamenei issued a special directive for the deployment of armed units in order to protect state offices and agencies in fear of anger and hatred of the people from the Velayat-e faqih ominous system.
According to the IRGC news agency, the directive `for "Establishment of protection units in executive agencies" that was "approved by the Supreme Commander General, was notified to the relevant authorities to be executed".
• Protest Gathering Of Green Space Workers In Municipality Of Ahvaz, Iran
On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, the green space workers of district 3 of the Municipality of Ahvaz, Iran organized a protest rally against the nonpayment of their salary and wage arrears.
About 50 workers of the green space unit of district 3 in Ahvaz Municipality gathered in front of the municipality building for the second consecutive day to demand their three months of delayed salary payments.
• Mashhad Railway Workers On Strike Close Entrance and Exit of Sirjan Railway Station In Iran
On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, Mashhad railway workers gathered in front of the Sirjan station and closed the entrance and exit lines of the station until 12 noon as they continued their strike against nonpayment of their wages.
The strike of railroad workers in various cities began three weeks ago in protest of the postponement of wages, non-payment of premiums, and lack of job security.
• Woman MP admits the existene of 24,000 widows under 18
A woman member of the mullahs’ parliament admitted that there are 24,000 young widows under 18 years of age in Iran.
Citing remarks by Massoumeh Agha-Alishahi the state-run media wrote on Monday, May 28, 2018, “The harms caused by early marriage of girl children are so much that now Agha-Alishahi has announced that the existence of 24,000 child widows under 18 years of age.
