Retired women and men spread their protests to more Iran cities




On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 18 and 19, 2018, retired women and men held various protest rallies in different cities, including Tehran, Mashhad, Kermanshah and Rasht. Women actively participated in these protests.
On December 19, 2018, retired women and men in Kermanshahgathered in front of the Provincial Education Department, and chanted against the injustice and suppression in Iran with the slogan of "imprisoned teacher and worker must be freed."

The main demands of the protesters are to address the delay in paying the pensions of retired teachers. The payment for the end of service of the retired teachers has been delayed. Some retirees have been waiting for more than one year to receive their payment. (The state-run ILNA news agency – December 19, 2018)

At the same time, retirees of administrative and non-governmental organizations gathered in Rasht, Gilan Province, to protest against poor livelihoods and economic situation.
On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, the retirees gathered in front of the regime's parliament in Tehran. They demanded an increase in pensions. The retired veterans, nurses, and hygiene personnel also chanted in support of the detained Ahvaz Steel workers and demanded the release of imprisoned workers and teachers.
Also on Tuesday, 150 volunteers of Tehran’s Azad University of Medical Sciences held a protest rally in front of the parliament. The medical volunteers have been expressing their objection to the university's performance since two months ago at various protest gatherings. The protests were essentially in front of the university’s central organization, the parliament, and in Pastur Street.
Azad University has suspended the registration of 4,269 volunteers from its reserve lists. (The official IRNA news agency – December 18, 2018)
Retired women and men in Mashhad also held a gathering on December 18 in protest against their livelihood situation and low salaries in front of the Budget and Planning Organization.
Iranian students also continued their protests.
On Monday, December 17, 2018, students from Khayyam University in Mashhad, held a protest rally against the low sanitary conditions at the university, which includes the presence of insects in the food served by the cafeteria and sewage pipes passing from under the cafeteria.
On the campus of Urmia University, students held protest rallies for the second day in a row on Monday, December 17, to protest against the poor food quality by lining up their food trays on the ground.
