The nightmare of the FETF weekly diet
FATF Week,
Over 800 officials representing 205
jurisdictions, the IMF, UN, World Bank and others will come to Paris for FATF Week. Officials will work through
nearly 100 papers and over 3 000 pages on a range of important issues to
protect the integrity of the financial system and contribute to global safety
and security.
FATF Week’s six days of meetings will conclude
with the second Plenary meeting under the
US Presidency of Marshall Billingslea from 20-22 February. Officials
will discuss a full agenda that includes:
· The regulation of virtual assets
· Developments in the financing of ISIL, Al
Qaeda and Affiliates and countries’ disruption strategies
· Mutual evaluations of Finland and China
· Actions taken by Italy and Norway
· Progress by Iran and other countries presenting a risk to the financial
system
· Risk-based approach guidance for legal professionals, accountants and trust and company service providers.
In addition, FATF will receive reports from
organisations including the IMF, World Bank, United Nations, OECD, OSCE,
Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units, CARIN, EBRD, ECB, Europol, GIFCS,
IAIS, the 9 FATF-Style Regional bodies and others.
