destroy” Iranian gunboats if they continue to harass American ships in the
Persian Gulf.

U.S. Navy officials said that
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy made a series of “dangerous and
harassing” moves near six American warships earlier this month, in the
first such encounter since 2018.
At one point, the Iranian
vessel came within 10 yards of a U.S. Coast Guard cutter, the Navy said.
U.S. officials said American
rivals are attempting to capitalize on the Trump administration’s
diverted attention during the coronavirus pandemic and the strains that the
outbreak has taken on the U.S. military.
The Trump administration has
warned foreign adversaries to not test U.S. resolve amid the coronavirus
pandemic.
