Report: Iranian hackers operating from server farm in France ، The fire at server company OVH in France revealed the activity of state-sponsored attack groups, including Iranian ones ، Ami Rojkes Dombe | 21/03/2021
The Iranian hacker group called Charming Kitten or APT39 is apparently also operating from a server farm in France, according to a report by vice.com. According to the report, about 140 servers at the OVH company's server farm that was damaged in a fire in France belong to international attack groups.
The information is based on an analysis by Costin Raiu from Kaspersky Labs, global director in the research division. He said there are several government hacking groups impacted, such as Charming Kitten and APT39, both believed to be linked to Iran; Bahamut, a hacking-for-hire group out of India; and OceanLotus, a group of Vietnamese hackers.
Hacking groups often use foreign (in terms of the groups' country of origin) server farms to hide their digital footprints. These server farms are used by the groups to host their command and control (C&C) servers.
