Reports that Israel hit Iranian targets in Syria, following a Lapid-Biden conversation on Iran

Biden emphasized his commitment to Israel’s security and to preserving its qualitative military edge
According to the official communiqué by the Prime Minister’s Office, Lapid and Biden spoke at length about the negotiations on a nuclear agreement, and their shared commitment to stopping Iran’s progress towards a nuclear weapon.
President Biden emphasized his deep commitment to the security of the State of Israel, and to preserving Israel’s capability to deter its enemies and defend itself by itself against any threat.
The leaders discussed recent events as well as Iran’s terrorist activity in the Middle East and beyond. In this context, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the strikes President Biden ordered in Syria.
Hours after this conversation, Syrian press reported that Israel carried out an air strike on the Aleppo International Airport, in northern Syria, followed by another one near the capital city of Damascus.
According to Syria’s state-sponsored news agency, SANA, the airport suffered rocket damage. SANA also reported that the military’s anti-aircraft defense systems had managed to intercept “enemy missiles” over Damascus.
Last week, SANA reported that two civilians were wounded in Israeli air raids on the Hama and Tartous regions in western Syria. Western media reported that the targets were Iranian-aligned militias, both last week and last night.
