Iran: 23 Girls and Boys Arrested for Attending A "Mixed- Gender Party"

NCRI - On Friday, November 4, Iranian regime’s police chief in Dezful (Khuzestan province) announced that 11 girls and 12 boys were arrested in connection with a “private mixed - gender party” held in a garden in Dezful. He said these boys and girls on the eve of Arbaeen (a religious ceremony in Iran) committed “norm-breaking” by holding a mixed-gender ceremony.
According to the state-run Mehr news agency, Ali Elhami, the police chief in Dezful stated on Friday: “Last night we received a news that 11 girls and 12 boys committed ‘norm-breaking’ by renting a garden in Ben-Jafar county in Dezful and holding a dance party.”

“Following preliminary investigation, this morning the police arrested these people upon a judiciary order,” he added.
“Dezful law enforcement acted on the judiciary order and sealed this garden and arrested 11 girls and 12 boys for participating in the illegal event that violated sharia law,” Ali Elhami said and added “the owner of the garden who already committed a crime by renting the garden to these people was also identified and arrested and his garden was sealed.”
Earlier, the head of the so-called “promotion of virtue and prevention of vice” headquarters in Dezful told the news agency: “In the first five months of 2016, some 400 people have been arrested for breaking norms in recreational and resort areas in Dezful.”
