Iran: Protests Against Noise Diffusion by the Clerical Regime

NCRI - On January 9, 2017, a large number of people of Shiraz rallied in front of the Fars Governor office to protest noise diffusion in the greater Shiraz city that has caused incurable diseases for the residents. One of the protesters, who had participated in the rally with hospital gown, carried a banner reading “We got bone cancer from the noise and we don’t have money for treatment”.
According to Shiraz University Physics Department report, noise diffusion in Shiraz is four times higher than Tehran and people are worried that with this trend, many people will develop cancer in the next three years. Due to public anger and protests, Ali Akbari, the regime’s Member of Parliament from Shiraz admitted in the Parliament session and said: “No one is accountable for the problem of noise in Shiraz. Neither the Minister of Interior, nor the Minister of Communications, nor the Minister of Health give a clear answer about it and these noises have caused headache, disruption in the cellular network, TV and environmental issues… Headache epidemic especially in the western part of the city has worried the people and continuation of this trend will affect public health”.
