Maryam Rajavi : Regime change in Iran is necessary and within reach,
a viable democratic alternative exists
The IRGC must be placed on the blacklist, the mullahs must be isolated by the international community, Iran’s seats must be handed over to the Iranian Resistance
“The only solution to free the people of Iran and establish peace and tranquility in the region, is the overthrow of the Iranian regime,” declared Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, in the grand gathering of Iranians on July 1, 2017.
She reiterated, “The regime’s overthrow is possible and within reach, and a democratic alternative and organized resistance exists that can topple it.”
Mrs. Rajavi continued, “Despite the regime’s propaganda, the greatest threat to the regime is not a foreign enemy, but the very revolts in society waiting to erupt and the rising number of protests that reached 11,000 last year as acknowledged by the regime’s officials.”

“From the outset, the regime was at war with the people of Iran. All the other wars waged against foreign countries were designed to cover up this main conflict. These wars are not a sign of the regime’s strength. The problem is that no government in the region has ever attempted to prevent the regime’s belligerence.”
Mrs. Rajavi added, “Fearing a repeat of the 2009 uprising, Khamenei had to back down from his plan in the presidential election sham to bring the name of Raisi, the executioner in charge of the 1988 massacre, out of the ballot box. This was a defeat for the totality of the regime. That Hassan Rouhanisecured a second term does not change the regime’s impasse. The regime is not capable of reform because the so-called reformists who were in office for more than half of this regime’s rule, did nothing but serving the Velayat-e Faqih. This regime cannot be contained, because more than three decades of West’s concessions did not bring about any change in this regime.”
Maryam Rajavi said the existence of a force for change and a democratic alternative guarantees the regime’s overthrow and Iran’s freedom. This force relies on an organized and united movement with thousands of trailblazing and selfless members. It relies on the genuine support, including financial support, of Iranians at home and abroad. Those on whose efforts and risk-taking the Iranian Resistance relied to expose the regime’s secret nuclear sites.

This alternative whose 120,000 members and sympathizers have been executed by this regime and seeks to establish freedom and democracy, is an appropriate response to differences among various ethnic groups and to the discord and divide between Shiites and Sunnis. It promotes freedom and equality for followers of all religions and responds to the tensions among Iran and the countries in the region.

The NCRI ’s President-elect underlined the Iranian Resistance’s unwavering belief in the people’s free choice, the separation of religion and state, women’s active and equal participation in political leadership, and the autonomy of various ethnic groups in the framework of Iran’s territorial integrity. She added, “As I have reiterated, repeatedly, we want neither money, nor arms. We urge you to recognize the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the mullahs’ religious dictatorship.”
She welcomed the statements made at the Arab, Islamic, American Summit in Riyadh against the Iranian regime and said, “The ultimate solution to the crisis in the region and confronting groups like ISIS, is the overthrow of the Iranian regime by the Iranian people and Resistance.”
She urged the United Nations , the European Union , the United States and countries in the region to
Recognize the resistance of the Iranian people to overthrow the mullahs’ religious dictatorship.
Expel the regime from the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and hand over Iran’s seat to the Iranian people’s Resistance.

Designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and evict it from the entire region.
Khamenei and other leaders of the regime must face justice for flagrant violations of human rights and their crimes against humanity, particularly the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran and for their war crimes in the region.
